Happy New Year! 2019 has finally arrived with a vengeance and just one week in, I’m already focusing heavily on my only goal for the year: living a life of “intention” instead of “resolutions.”
Every New Year, as a culture, we tend to set a long list of unobtainable resolutions for the next twelve months and almost certainly get forgotten by Valentine’s Day – if we’re lucky. By focusing on acting with intention, my hope is obtain focus and really hone in on fostering positivity for myself this year and the ones beyond.
I’ve heard the idea of “living with intention” for a while now; mostly at Soulcycle, but it just occurred to me now to actually put it into practice. According to the Mind Body Green, it refers to, “mindfully choosing how to spend each day, how to exert energy, what thoughts fill your mind, what food fills your body, and what environment surrounds me.”
One that couldn’t have at a more appropriate time than at the helm of 2019 and at this personal time of transition for me.
In addition to launching into a new year, I will also be starting a new job at a new company; one that requires more responsibility so more than anything I want to take the best vibes into this role with me. I’ll be a leader and want to be an effective one, thus intention will manifest in all parts of my life.
For some reason this feels like a year of purpose and transition. I want to write, create, collaborate and self-evaluate more than I ever have before — and if done with intention, I will be a reflection of that by its end.
So here I am – wishing, willing and working towards a 2019 that’s brighter than its predecessor in every way.
